Wireless LAN
Wireless
networking is now common in schools, as well as in businesses
and homes. It gives enormous flexibility in where
computers can be used and can provide good capacity networking
without the need to install cables throughout buildings.
Wireless networks can also be used to link buildings avoiding
the need for fibre optic cabling where this might be impractical
or extremely expensive.
We are experienced at designing, installing and managing
wireless networks in a wide range of situations. We cover
every requirement from a single wireless access point on a
laptop trolley through to a full wireless infrastructure
covering several buildings.
For most wireless networks, it is important to start the
planning with a full wireless site survey. As wireless
signals are affected by environmental factors and building
structures, it is impossible to predict how widely the signals
from any wireless access point will reach. Our survey will
therefore evaluate the reach of signals from wireless access
points located in strategic locations and design a network of
access points to ensure that all the required areas are fully
covered.
We will then prepare plans for all the wireless access points
including all the cabling required to link the wireless access
points into the network and the provision of power to the access
points. In most cases, the most efficient and
cost-effective way to achieve this is by providing Power over
Ethernet (PoE), which enables the power for the access point
to be provided over the data cable connecting the access point
to the rest of the network.
Our extensive experience of wireless networking enables us to
provide you with the most appropriate network to meet your
objectives. In some cases, we are asked to upgrade and/or
extend existing wireless networks. We are always happy to
do this and advise on the most appropriate solutions.
We are always happy to discuss your requirements and provide a written
proposal with guaranteed pricing to serious potential clients.
