Network Printers in Schools
GVT generally recommend laser printers as network printers.
Our experience shows that laser printers are more
cost-effective than inkjet printers. While the cost of a laser
printer is generally higher than that of an inkjet printer, the
per-page cost is significantly higher for inkjet printers. Laser printers
also tend to have networking capabilities built into them, whereas
only high-end inkjet printers tend to be networkable.
In recent years, colour laser printers have become
considerably cheaper and many are available at similar prices to
monochrome (black & white) printers. The best colour
lasers now offer monochrome printing at costs per page similar
to the best monochrome laser printers, which are significantly
cheaper than inkjets.
We currently recommend printers Samsung, HP, Epson and OKI.
Printer Types to Consider
- Inkjet Printers
a range of printers that suits most needs - typically
with the choice of 4 or 6 colours the latest technologies
are
so advanced
that you can produce photo quality
images. Also available in A3 size for larger
output.
- Laser Printers
Available either as monochrome or colour. The best
colour lasers have controls within the printer to default to
monochrome to save cost.
- All-in-One
One-stop print, copy and scan solutions (optionally with
fax as well) combine speed,
quality and cost-efficiency. These are available as
inkjets or lasers with the recent addition of colour laser
all-in-ones at very reasonable prices.
We are always happy to discuss your requirements and provide a written
proposal with guaranteed pricing to serious potential clients.
