ICT Classroom Design Considerations

Evidence shows that pupils who rate a physical environment as 'good' - are more likely to be positive about aspects of teaching and learning within that environment.  One reason for this is that effective design can stimulate children’s creativity.  A good environment will provide comfort, security, visibility, personal space and interest.

Design and Purchasing Decisions

Design and purchasing decisions should be based on a school's individual circumstances:-

• teaching methods.
• what is the school looking to achieve?
• what funding is available.

A thorough risk assessment will assist schools in defining their requirements - the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) provides guidance on this.
